Guidance for our friends, family and neighbors affected by the Boulder County Fires: Immediate Actions and Awareness

Dave Janis with Janis Properties, today I want to talk about the recent Boulder County fires. I would like to help and guide as many homeowners as possible, as they try to figure out the next steps moving forward. My family and I lived in Superior for over 10 years, so this has been very hard to watch as we have friends, family and clients who have been affected; our hearts go out to you. If there is anything we can do to help, don’t hesitate to reach out.
After speaking and coordinating with other agents throughout the country who have worked in areas affected by fires, I wanted to do a video series highlighting steps and guidance in hopes to help during this time of uncertainty. Right now, everyone is just getting over the shock and trying to get their feet back on the ground. But there are two things you need to do immediately. First, start your insurance claim. There is going to be a backlog and it will take 6-12 months to complete. Second, try and find a rental. We had a shortage of housing before, and this is unfortunately going to make it tighter. I’ve already heard stories of price gouging.

In the next couple of videos, I will focus on what to watch out for, how to talk to contractors, insurance agents etc. At my office, we have already had several calls from people out of State, looking to take advantage of the situation. Be wary and watch out for scammers. But for now, stay safe. If my team or I can help at all… 303.442.5001. Thank you.
